gulf coast murals
My new Climate Listening Project short documentary film Gulf Coast Love Story listens to a poet, chef, musician, dancer, photographer and painters with Gulf Coast Murals along the beaches and the bayous of the Gulf Coast. Gulf Coast Murals is a passion project, an equitable art activism effort.
There’s 20+ LNG export terminals proposed along the Gulf Coast — liquid natural gas export facilities where pipelines bring dangerous gas to the gulf to ship it overseas. Most of the new proposed export facilities are in Texas and Louisiana but there was a new proposed export facility in Port St. Joe, Florida.
Gulf Coast Murals is a collaboration of artists who are remembering, healing, visioning, and building a better future with love and hope. New murals have been painted in Corpus Christi, Houston, Lake Charles, and New Orleans. It was such an honor to be in connection with the artists: Geraldina Wise and University of Houston Clear Lake students, Arts New Orleans and the Youth Artists Movement, Derrick Thornton and Shannon Dejean in Lake Charles, and Jose Gonzales IV in Corpus Christi.
